A proof of concept to optimize and save energy in the industrial sector
How can sensor technology and data processing be used to optimize and improve control processes in the industrial sector, to save energy in the long term? This was a challenge we helped Stora Enso explore, based on the award-winning work of Chalmers researchers Anders Karlström and Veronica Olesen, and partly funded by Vinnova

The result: a "traffic light-like" web app as a proof of concept to visualize whether parts of the system in the manufacturing process are working too hard, too little, at the wrong kind of intervals and much more. This information can then be used to improve and optimize production in various ways, such as reducing energy consumption or increasing production rates.

An app to visualize solar energy data and achieve zero emissions

How can you make it easier for electricity consumers and solar panel owners to overview and streamline their solar energy data and achieve zero emissions in the long term? A challenge that Prototyp took on together with Svea Solar and the design agency Antrop by developing a unique app for visualizing data.

The final product was Svea Solar 2.0, an app for iOS and Android that gives users control over their own production and consumption of solar energy, as well as access to smart analysis functions to create an understanding of solar energy.

Gapminder Worldview Upgrader - a fun and educational tool that challenges misconceptions about global development

How do you build a tool that can change people's worldview? A tool that not only teaches new facts but also challenges systematic misconceptions about life in other societies. Together with design agency Antrop, we helped Gapminder Foundation implement their vision; to change the worldview of the masses. This via the new digital platform Gapminder Worldview Upgrader.

Gapminder had published several books to spread a fact-based worldview, and built a simple digital knowledge test (and certification) to 'wake up' and educate the public about the world and its development. But they needed something more to counter ignorance on a larger, global scale. The project resulted in a scalable web app that can be used both by curious individuals and in educational contexts.
