DEBATE: Government must step up to meet growth and tech competition

The government's fall budget lacks an increased level of ambition to strengthen Swedish competitiveness. This is worrying at a time when Sweden is expected to have the lowest growth in the EU and is losing its position in global tech competition. There are glimmers of hope, and perhaps the digitalization strategy that has been announced can provide hope. But the fact is that what is needed now is not just a strategy, but a firm commitment, clear priorities and long-term investment. This was the government's second budget. One term goes by fast - step up the pace!
