Strengthened sanction possibilities for the Consumer Ombudsman, DS 2015:45
IT&Telekomföretagen has been given the opportunity to submit a consultation response to the ministry memorandum "Strengthened sanction possibilities for the Consumer Ombudsman" (DS 2015:45). The referral was received from the Ministry of Finance.
The memorandum deals with the Consumer Ombudsman's (KO) powers and available sanctions in the supervision under the Marketing Act (2008:486) and the Act (1994:1512) on
contract terms in consumer relationships. The KO's access to effective and dissuasive sanctions is a prerequisite for continued strong consumer protection.
The memorandum proposes that the prohibitions and orders that the CO may decide on under the above-mentioned laws should no longer be dependent on the trader's approval. It is also proposed that the CO be given the possibility to decide that such decisions should apply immediately.
