Future broadband deployment in Sweden

For the future expansion of broadband in Sweden, and continued effective competition in the market, it is extremely important that there is a functioning regulation, long-term conditions and trust between the authorities, the government and the industry. The study commissioned by Telenor from PwC gives the impression that there is a great need to improve these three factors.

As is often the case, there are different pictures of reality. This makes it all the more important that there is a functioning dialog between the parties. Areas that need to be discussed are, for example, the basis for regulation, analysis and investigations, learning from the courts' handling of cases and which issues can be left to the courts to decide.

It is essential that confidence is strengthened, and one step towards this is for PTS, like the Government, to take account of the 15 proposals contained in the report.

From the industry organization, IT&Telekomföretagen, we want to contribute by all means to a rapid improvement of the situation, so that the expansion of networks and the development and sale of services is not slowed down. This would be extremely unfortunate for Sweden's global competitiveness," says Mikael von Otter, business policy expert at IT&Telecom companies within Almega.
