Happy New Year 2013
A new year with great expectations - for example, that we will have a strategy for IT in schools, that more municipalities and authorities will make data available for service development, that Welfare Technology will be a new major focus area and that more IT companies will open their doors to schoolchildren.
I start the year by reading the Digitalization Commission's action plan. The Digitalization Commission is responsible for the implementation of the government's Digital Agenda and is tasked with demonstrating the opportunities of digitalization, analyzing the development and being responsible for the cooperation with all signatories. The Digitalization Commission has chosen to focus on three areas: digital literacy, IT in schools, and entrepreneurship and business development. I think these are well chosen areas, not least IT in schools. I find it hard to understand why the general debate on falling school results does not include IT as an opportunity for educational development. The government currently has strategies for e-government, for broadband expansion, for e-health - but not for IT use in schools. Hopefully, this will be one of the results of the work of the Digitalization Commission.
We ourselves are starting some new activities during the year. You can already sign up for our Arena for Welfare Technology, with a focus on health and social care. The aim is to create a dialog between the industry and other relevant actors in welfare, for the benefit of both care recipients, caregivers and companies.
