Comments on the PSI investigation
The IT & Telecommunications Industry Council for Open Data has provided input to the government's PSI report.
On January 17, 2013, the Government appointed an inquiry(Dir 2013:2 and Dir 2013:41) with the aim of submitting proposals for the constitutional amendments needed to implement the changes resulting from the new form of the PSI Directive. The assignment also includes describing the consequences of extending the PSI Directive to include archives, museums and libraries, and reviewing the authorities' charging of fees for providing information for re-use. This will also include the task of investigating what support the authorities need and whether any authority should be given additional tasks in this area. The inquiry is to present its final report by 30 October 2013.
The authorities' efforts to meet the objectives of the current PSI Directive and the Swedish PSI legislation are slow. The use of public data for commercial purposes has not received the clear legislative support it needs. The IT&Telecom Industry Council for Open Data has therefore compiled a document, "Comments on the PSI Inquiry (S 2013:01)", which was sent to the special investigator Göran Gräslund.
