IT in Almedalen? Here are the seminars you should keep an eye on.
Four or five years ago, IT policy issues were rather sparse in Almedalen. A little about the lack of broadband, something about IT in schools and healthcare, slightly more about file sharing.
This year, there are so many events that it would take cloning to attend even half of them. Encouragingly, although concerns are raised, more events have positive and practical starting points. The digital society is here, so what do we do? Now that we understand the tools, how do we create the benefits?
In a way, IT is no longer the separate issue it was five years ago. Today, IT permeates most things, in an increasingly obvious way. And one consequence is that "digital", "IT" and "internet" appear in every other seminar description.
There will be so much in the valley this year, and it's hard to prioritize. I myself will run around like a shotgun. Blah in these places. Hope to see you!
