Cybersecurity - a key enabler of industry trust

Things are happening in the field of cybersecurity in the Government Offices. In 2020, a national cybersecurity center will be established to support authorities, municipalities and companies.

Over time, IT security has become an increasingly important issue in the work of the IT&Telecom industry. From being one of many important issues, it has, in parallel with the increasing impact of digitization, become a central prerequisite for the industry's confidence. Against this background, IT&Telekomföretagen has developed clear positions on how our member companies are expected to handle IT security issues. We organize training and knowledge promotion initiatives aimed at both the business community and political decision-makers.

What we have learned from this, as well as from previous interactions with the judiciary and its authorities, is the importance of respecting the complexity of IT security issues and the fact that no one actor has all the answers. Therefore, from the industry's point of view, a lack of interest in mutual dialog by some authorities in the past has led to great annoyance and less than necessary prevention and prosecution. This must be avoided in the future.

If the government's ambition of increased Swedish cybersecurity protection is to be achieved, extensive cooperation between authorities and the business community is required. The members of IT&Telekomföretagen have a great deal of expertise and are already working to contribute to a more secure digital Sweden.
