National governance and coherent digital infrastructure needed now
On August 28, IT&Telekomföretagen hosted a webinar on the future of technology in the service of care.
Participants included Peter Larsson, investigator of welfare technology in elderly care, as well as senior advisor to the Swedish Engineers, Jonas Hampus, section manager for the section Assistance, Quality and Development at the nursing administration in Falun, as well as chairman of the Association of Swedish Social Managers (FSS) in the Gävle-Dal region and member of the national board of FSS Johan Magnusson, associate professor, University of Gothenburg and Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI) and Åsa Zetterberg, Federal Director, IT & Telecom Companies. The discussion was led by Lars Lundberg, Industry Policy Expert, IT&Telecom Companies.
The panel discussed what needs to be done to achieve a national, widespread introduction of welfare technology and the participants, against their background and expertise, presented their most important national proposals for measures to quickly realize a "digital welfare Sweden".
Some of the panel's views and suggestions for action:
- Clarity on the legal conditions for providing welfare technology to those with reduced decision-making capacity.
- National governance and coherent digital infrastructure, both in terms of the technical infrastructure and in terms of digital information exchange.
- Robustness of systems, for example in terms of connectivity and stability.
- Municipalities, regions and the state need a joint development plan.
- Increase opportunities for matching needs and solutions.
- Strengthened skills and drive among all those involved.
