"Move the main responsibility away from HR"

The latest episode of our podcast Vitecherupp is hosted by Teknikkvinnor's CEO Maria Norberg, who is also involved in running the IT&Telecom companies' change program Womentor. In the podcast, she tells us that she wants to see companies raise gender equality and inclusion issues from the HR departments.

- "HR is fantastic when it comes to building structures and processes, but ownership of the issues needs to be moved out into the organization where the change is to take place. Use everyone in the company because it is the majority who need to change and the majority are usually men," says Maria Norberg.

A concrete tip for the first step towards change is to get data to understand the current situation and then use it to understand how to have the greatest impact within the organization.

- When a senior manager says that gender equality and inclusion are important, it means that they are saying that I as an individual am willing to change and change my view of the world and then become more inclusive. That I, as a person in power and a manager, am willing to redistribute the power that I and my closest colleagues have
and willing to have the discussion. That I am willing to dedicate my precious time to work actively, consistently and continuously on these issues.

Maria Norberg says that you have to see the work as a marathon and not a sprint,

- Change takes time, but we need to work on it continuously to make it happen.
