Robert Liljeström new industrial policy expert

Shortly after the turn of the year, Robert Liljeström took up the role of industry policy expert with a focus on telecoms and digital infrastructure. TechSverige's latest acquisition, who has been a key person in the tech industry in his previous roles at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, Microsoft and Ericsson, comes most recently from a position as Head of Public Affairs at Telia Sweden. 

Can you give us a short presentation of yourself outside of work?

- In my spare time, I like to be out and about. By myself, in the running track with a book in my head or together with my family and our dog Iris at the summer cottage on Djurö.

What attracted you to the position of industrial policy expert?

- I enjoy working with issues related to how new technology can help solve important societal challenges and where different interests need to be balanced to find a common way forward. The opportunity to combine analysis and strategy work with being out and meeting many different stakeholders is for me a positive part of the job that creates variety and wholeness.

What do you see as the biggest challenges?

- Issues related to new technology and infrastructure are often perceived as complex. I therefore believe that contributing knowledge and being able to simplify is very important for positive development where society can get the best possible benefit from technological development.
