Meet TechSweden's technology trailblazer Beatrice Jevrell

The Technology Leap is an internship program that aims to attract more young people to higher technical education to secure the futures skills supply. TechSverige has during the spring had the honor of having Beatrice Jevrell as an intern.. We asked Beatrice to summarize her internship period.

What made you apply to the tech industry via Tekniksprånget?

- For me, it was TechSverige that attracted me. The TechSverige program is incredibly good for getting a first insight into and experience of working life. When I saw that TechSverige offered an internship, it felt like an obvious choice to apply. The fact that the internship is four months results in you really getting into the work and during the time I had the opportunity, through good guidance, to take more responsibility and challenge myself. TechSverige is the perfect internship as it offers a lot of variety and freedom when it comes to the tasks. Due to the fact that it is an industry and employer organization, you also get a very broad perspective of the industry as a whole.

What did you get to do during your traineeship?

- During my time at TechSverige, I have gained insight into different parts of their work, everything from press releases to meetings with ministers for advocacy work. It has been enormously fun and educational to take part in varied tasks and such a wide range of work. Gradually, there was more focus on communication and I have been able to help the communication team at TechSverige with everything from posts on social media to planning for major events such as the Tech Awards.

- The Tech Awards was the first thing I got to work on when I started my internship. It was great to start with something as big as the Tech Awards and then to be part of the event, see the results and how everything came together was very fun and rewarding. It was both challenging and exciting to work with such a large project that included both a beginning and an end. That is, preparations, the event itself and a conclusion with evaluation.

How would you summarize your internship as a whole?

- I would summarize my internship as four enormously fun months where I have learned something new every day. Since I have already studied 2.5 years at the university before my internship, it has been very fun and educational to see how things work in practice and not just theoretically.

What are your future plans?

- My internship at TechSverige has really opened my eyes to the tech industry, even more, and it's definitely something I can see myself working on in the future. I have also gained a great interest in communication. As it stands right now, I'm going to study this fall and finish a bachelor's degree and then we'll see what happens after that.

Would you recommend others to apply for internship through Tekniksprånget?

- Definitely, Tekniksprånget offers a perfect start in working life and a chance for young people with no previous experience to try out a profession and then see if it is the track they want to take later. The last four months have given me more than I could ever imagine and I would recommend anyone who has the opportunity to apply for an internship, through Tekniksprånget, to do so.
