TechSverige welcomes tax measures to boost competitiveness
This week, the government presented several initiatives to simplify entrepreneurship and give companies better opportunities to attract and retain key skills. This is gratifying and something that TechSweden and its member companies have highlighted as central to strengthening Sweden's international competitiveness.
- Good conditions for companies to build knowledge and conduct their business are a prerequisite for Swedish competitiveness and sustainable social development. This applies not least to the Swedish tech industry, which feels the effects of global competition every day," says Christina Ramm-Ericson, Head of Industrial Policy at TechSverige.
The Government announced yesterday that the budget bill will contain a simplification package of SEK 50 million to make life easier for businesses. As a complement to the previously announced Implementation Council, a Simplification Council will be established to identify simplification measures that follow from Swedish law and develop concrete proposals. The Implementation Council will focus on issues linked to the introduction of EU directives that are of particular importance to Swedish businesses.
- "We welcome the proposals with the clear expectation that any legislation adopted, both at EU and national level, will be based on the 'Think small first' principle," says Christina Ramm-Ericson.
The government has also announced that the time limit for the so-called expert tax will be extended from the current five to seven years and that the 3:12 commission will be given an additional assignment to review the rules on qualified employee stock options to make the rules more effective.
- "We are pleased that the government has listened to us and many others who saw the need for change. The proposals will strengthen Sweden's international competitiveness in attracting key personnel, reduce companies' skills shortages and help maintain the purpose of the regulations," says Ana Andric, industry policy expert at TechSverige.
