"Our part in the green transition is exciting and an important factor for society"

Henning Sveder is President and CEO of member company Transtema. TechSverige asked four questions about the company and the tech industry.

What exciting milestones is Transtema facing this year?

We see an increasing demand in the market to coordinate services with a single provider across larger geographical areas or countries. This trend means that we are facing new challenges and opportunities to broaden our business to new geographies and to grow further in existing ones. I think this is an exciting development that is positive for us, increases our market presence and strengthens our position as a versatile and reliable partner in the industry.

I also think that our part in the green transition with our offering in charging infrastructure is exciting and an important social factor. We are seeing increased demand from the transport sector for charging infrastructure and it is an exciting journey to be part of, especially with our strong sustainability focus. The electrification of the Swedish vehicle fleet is moving fast and we are an important part of ensuring that charging facilities are available in strategic places, that they are connected and work properly.

What are you doing to be an attractive employer?

In addition to meeting basic requirements and laws on a safe working environment for our employees, we work hard on our core values. All our employees should know what our values of innovation, respect and responsibility mean to us, and they should be present in our daily work. It is important how we treat our customers, but also how we treat each other as colleagues to create well-being and inclusion. To reinforce this, we have a nomination competition every year where our employees can vote for the colleague they think lives by our values. This is usually much appreciated and a way of showing appreciation to those who go the extra mile. Our focus on sustainability and the opportunity given to our employees to volunteer are also things that our employees often highlight as positive about working with us. I am also very proud of our gender equality work. In a male-dominated industry, 28% of our leaders are women.

What are the challenges facing the tech industry in the region?

For the tech industry in our region, as in the rest of Sweden, the need to prioritize security issues is great. In line with the development of society, the area has moved to the top of the agenda for most companies to work intensively to ensure robust and secure technical environments. We see an increased demand for expertise in the security area and demand for more advanced systems.

At the same time, we see the rapid development of AI technology as an opportunity. AI offers the potential to simplify and streamline work processes, but it also requires us to think in new ways - we must dare to break traditional patterns and explore innovative ways of working.

For us, with our focus on critical communication infrastructure, it is of utmost importance that our customers' networks are robust and connected for society to function without disruption.

Are there examples of tech industry initiatives in the region or other parts of the country that you find particularly inspiring?

Volvo Cars - Autonomous and Electric Vehicles

Volvo Cars has invested heavily in the development of both autonomous and electric vehicles. Their goal is not only to make driving safer but also more environmentally friendly. Volvo plans for all their new cars to be electric or hybrids from 2025 onwards.

Stockholm as a Smart City

Stockholm has several initiatives underway to become an even smarter and more connected city. These range from improving the city's energy system to introducing smart technologies in homes and buildings to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
