"We need to act now and we already have solutions in place"

Kristofer Sjöholm is Head of Sustainability in Digital Services at Sweco and also the new Vice Chair of TechSverige's Sustainability Council. In an interview, he talks about how he sees the mission and why you should not miss the sustainability conference A Sustainable Tomorrow, hosted by TechSverige and Sweco on September 11.

How do you see the role as vice chairman of the Sustainability Council?
It feels exciting to be involved and work more actively in organizing the Sustainability Council's meetings and meetings with the help of TechSverige's business policy expert Frida Faxborn and the Council Chairman Johanna Giorgi in their work.

How do you see the link between tech and the green transition?
Those of us who work with tech and digitization on a daily basis have an obligation to make this work as sustainable as possible. This means, for example, that we need to focus on maximizing the benefits that tech can contribute to sustainability without ducking the challenges that exist with increasing energy and resource consumption that not least data centers and AI development create.

Sweco, together with TechSverige, will host the digital sustainability conference A Sustainable Tomorrow (AST) on September 11. The theme of this year's conference is "Dissonance". Why not miss this?
This year's theme is highly topical. We know we need to act now and we already have solutions in place, yet far too little is happening. Focusing this year's conference on this gap feels very relevant. The whole AST concept of digital meetings with speakers on video and conversations and meetings locally is such good sustainability thinking. To think that we do not need to transport ourselves to be able to get a qualified event with such high-profile speakers appeals to me a lot and I hope it can also attract many visitors to AST2024.
