Below is a brief description of nine common occupational roles in tech. More information on the roles and their needs can be found in theTech skills needs report. 

System developer:Develops the software of various tech solutions. Typical roles within the role are programmer, front end and back end developer and DevOps developer. 

Data Scientist:Analyzes and interprets complex digital data, including using AI. 

Support technicians (or support experts):provide technical assistance to users and maintain and troubleshoot technical systems. 

IT architect:plans and strategizes how to structure and build IT systems. 

Project Manager:Plans, organizes and implements technical projects. 

Tester:Testing and quality assurance of products and systems. 

UX expert:UX means user experience. UX experts ensure that a good user experience is achieved in all parts of the interaction between the user and a product or system. 

Salesperson with business responsibility:drives sales processes and develops customer relationships. Typical roles within the role are Bid Managers and Key Account Managers. 

Business developer:Analyzes, develops and streamlines ways of working, methods and processes, including to ensure that the different tech solutions used add value. 

All roles involve working to varying degrees on developing the technology, developing the business and developing the usability of the technology solutions.
