New agreement on SAO jobs signed together with Unionen
TechSverige has signed a new agreement on SAO jobs together with Unionen. This means that TechSverige members can start using this form of employment right away.
SAO, which stands for study-motivating work orientation, enables students in grades 8 and 9 to work alongside their studies as an alternative to work experience placements. The aim is to strengthen young people's connection to working life, increase their motivation to complete compulsory education, and at the same time give employers a chance to showcase their industry. For tech employers, SAO is a concrete way to showcase the industry to young people and contribute to the future supply of skilled labor.
SAO jobs in brief
- Students can work up to 2 hours per week during the school term, as an alternative to work experience.
- The monthly salary is 750 Swedish kronor.
- The position covers 10 months per year with a summer break.
- The employment can be terminated with 14 days' notice by the student, employer, or school.
SAO jobs can only be offered by employers who are members of an employer organization within the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and who are covered by collective agreements within the LO or PTK agreement areas. Through TechSweden's new agreement with Unionen, TechSweden members with collective agreements meet these requirements and can therefore take advantage of this form of employment directly.
