People in tech: Therese Mossberg, Atea
In its People in Tech series, TechSverige shines a spotlight on HR profiles in its member companies. Therese Mossberg has been employed at Atea for almost seven years and has held the position of Learning & Development Manager since September last year.
– My role is essentially about creating even better conditions for learning and development – both here and now and in the longer term. I am driving a change process where we work cross-functionally to build a sustainable infrastructure for learning – from strategy and working methods to tools that work in everyday life. I am also responsible for Atea's leadership academy, where we develop around 300 managers in modern leadership. In addition, I am part of the HR management team, where I work with my colleagues to lead and develop the HR organization.
What issues take up most of your time in your day-to-day work?
– I balance both strategic and operational issues in my day-to-day work. I work on setting the direction for my area in a complex organization where many perspectives, business models, and stakeholders must work together. Much of it is about getting people to move in the same direction—creating clarity, commitment, and security during change. Examples of specific tasks I have on my desk right now include developing a common learning strategy for the entire organization, negotiating agreements with external suppliers, planning and facilitating workshops, and designing and moderating our digital leadership forum. I enjoy combining strategic work with practical implementation.
What do you think is important for leadership, especially in your industry?
– I believe in leadership that combines clarity and humanity, regardless of industry. By clarity, I mean being clear about direction, expectations, and priorities. Our industry is characterized by rapid technological development and high complexity. When a lot is changing at once, people need to know what is most important right now and why. For me, humane leadership is based on a positive view of humanity – a conviction that people both can and want to contribute. The leader's role then becomes to create the conditions to unleash that potential. It's very much about listening, showing understanding, and building a safe culture where it's okay to ask questions, try new things, and sometimes fail. When clarity and humanity go hand in hand, the conditions are created for engagement, learning, and long-term sustainable results – both for the individual and for the business.
How would you describe the corporate culture at Atea?
– You can really feel how our values are lived out in everyday life at Atea. It is an organization where people want to make things happen and where there is a high level of commitment. I see our collective intelligence as one of our greatest strengths. There is a lot of expertise, curiosity, and a genuine desire to contribute—and when we manage to harness that together, really good things happen!
What advantages do you see in your membership of TechSverige?
– Through our collaboration with TechSverige, we gain access to expert knowledge that is directly relevant to our industry and collective agreements. Particularly valuable is the support in labor law and legal issues, where we receive qualified advice on both everyday issues and more complex dilemmas. TechSverige also offers training courses that are well adapted to our needs, as well as structured support in the event of changes in laws and collective agreements. All in all, membership gives us important security in our everyday work in a rapidly changing world.
