AI skills are in demand in an increasing number of professions—sharp rise in job postings in 2025
TechSverige has updated its analysis of AI in job postings with new figures for 2025. The results show that AI-related skills continue to have an increasingly significant impact on the job market. Between 2024 and 2025 alone, the number of AI-related keywords in job postings increased by just over 200 percent.
“This is yet another sign that AI is rapidly transforming the labor market. Companies are increasingly seeking employees who can use and understand AI, which makes the issue of skills increasingly important for Sweden’s competitiveness,” says Ana Andric, an economic policy expert at TechSverige.
The analysis is based on more than 23,000 job postings that contained at least one AI-related keyword in Swedish or English during the period 2016–2025. A total of 26,257 AI-related mentions were identified in job postings published on Platsbanken.
Although AI-related job ads still account for a relatively small portion of the total volume of job ads, the trend is clear. The number of AI-related keywords increased from 625 occurrences in 2016 to 8,157 occurrences in 2025. This means that AI-related keywords appear 13 times more frequently in job postings today than in 2016. At the same time, AI has spread to significantly more professions. The number of occupational groups in which AI is mentioned has increased from 46 in 2016 to 177 in 2025.
The analysis also shows that demand remains heavily concentrated in tech professions. Software and systems developers, IT architects, systems analysts, and other IT specialists account for a large proportion of AI-related job postings. It is within these professions that AI solutions are developed, integrated, and implemented, but also where AI is widely used as a tool in day-to-day work.
At the same time, the use of AI is growing more rapidly outside traditional tech professions. Since 2022, AI-related mentions have increased by 278 percent in other occupational groups, compared with 190 percent in IT professions. AI is mentioned more and more frequently in job postings in fields such as marketing, organizational development, sales, research, and finance.
“As AI becomes relevant in more and more professions, it’s not enough to simply train more specialists. Sweden also needs to give more people the opportunity to develop basic AI skills through education and professional development throughout their working lives,” says Ana Andric.
