Cybercrime has become more common, more dangerous and more expensive. Recently, the government presented a new division of responsibilities in the field of cybersecurity along with several commendable initiatives to strengthen protection against cyberattacks. However, more will be needed. The tech industry and the digital solutions it offers are crucial for Sweden's economic growth, for productivity and innovation throughout the business sector and public sector, and for sustainable societal development. Digitization offers many opportunities, but serious downsides also need to be addressed. Although security investments have lagged behind, there are already solutions available today that can be used to increase information security and counter cybercrime.
Information and cyber security is a complex problem and there is no quick or easy solution. No single actor can solve information and cyber security problems on its own.
To strengthen security, there is a need for greater awareness of threats, more collaboration, improved skills supply, and better ability to combat cybercrime.
