Almedalen 2026. Debate: What policies are needed to make Sweden tech-secure?

Sweden is heading into an election at a time of rapid technological development, geopolitical uncertainty, and intensifying global competition. At the same time, digital technology is having an ever-greater impact on society. What is needed to make Sweden tech-ready—and which party has the best tech policy? Join us for TechSverige’s political debate in Almedalen on June 25 from 1:40 to 2:30 p.m. in the Svenskt Näringsliv garden.

In a new technological shift where AI and digitalization are reshaping the workplace, business, and the public sector, policymakers face critical decisions. At the same time, demands for competitiveness, digital resilience, and security are growing. How do we harness the potential of technology—and how does Sweden position itself in the global competition and the emerging AI economy? This debate brings together representatives from the parties in the Riksdag for a lively discussion on direction, reforms, and pace. The focus is on what is actually required to strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness, welfare, and security—and to secure Sweden’s place in global AI development. The question is simple: Who has the best tech policy to lead Sweden forward?
