Working in other countries - what applies?
What trends are advisers seeing in teleworking and what are the practicalities of working abroad as an employer? It is important to know what the rules are before you, as an employer, authorize an employee to work from abroad. An assignment abroad is usually categorized according to the nature and duration of the posting. It can be a business trip, a secondment, a posting or perhaps teleworking. In addition to labor law and insurance law when working abroad, you will also get an overview of the tax consequences of working abroad.
Course description
This is what you get in the course
In this course, you will receive practical guidance from experts in employment law, insurance law and tax law. We will go through the definition and application of the different forms of expatriate work, using real-life cases. You will also learn what you, as an employer, need to investigate and know before authorizing an employee to work from another country. The course allows for discussions around your particular case and you are welcome to submit questions in advance here.
We look at what applies in terms of labor law and what definitions and laws may be relevant. We look at the scope of the collective agreement, choice of law, where disputes are settled and what terms should be applied to the employment contract. We also look at how to formulate supplementary agreements, work environment and risk assessment before departure, and go through templates for the various forms of expatriate work.
What should companies consider from a tax perspective when teleworking? How should you as an employer think about risk? We clarify with some practical examples and also look at the latest trends, what is going on in terms of legislation and a little briefly what the employee should consider when working abroad.
The course focuses on labor law, insurance law and social security law, but we will also briefly touch on what applies to work permits, other permits and a little about tax when traveling abroad and where you can find good answers to these questions.
