Data centers – a driver of growth for Sweden?

Global demand for computing power is growing rapidly in step with advancements in AI and the increasing digitalization of the economy and our society. Data centers have therefore become a strategically important part of the digital infrastructure and an area where Sweden is well-positioned to take a leading role.

At the same time, this trend raises questions. Data centers are energy-intensive operations, and the growing demand for electricity is occurring alongside the need for widespread electrification of industry, transportation, and society. How can Sweden attract investment in data centers without crowding out other energy-intensive industries? And how can these new facilities contribute to innovation, growth, and a stronger digital ecosystem in Sweden?

The Confederation of Swedish EnterpriseandTechSverigehave each published a report on data centers. Together, we are now bringing together industries, experts, and decision-makers to discuss a key issue on the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s growth agenda: how Sweden can create the right conditions for new investments, strengthen its position in the digital economy—and at the same time safeguard a robust energy system.

During the seminar, we will discuss topics such as:
• the development and needs of the data center industry
• implications for the power grid and other industries
• security and defense considerations
• the role of municipalities in data center development
• what policymakers need to do to ensure Sweden can capitalize on the opportunities presented by data centers.

Welcome to a seminar on data centers and how they enable long-term growth for Sweden.

The seminar will be livestreamed and begins at 2:00 p.m.; light refreshments will be served starting at 1:30 p.m. Following the seminar, we’ll host a networking session in the lobby.A link to the livestream will be sent separately via email.
