It's high time to start planning your vacation! We will guide you through the sometimes complicated provisions and calculations of the Vacation Act. During this session, we will review the vacation rules in collective agreements and what is important to consider when planning your upcoming vacation. We will provide guidance on the practical handling of common vacation issues that arise during a vacation year and in connection with the commencement and termination of employment.

Aims and objectives

The Vacation Act is the Swedish law that gives employees the right to vacation. The law is complex and, in some respects, difficult to apply in practice. The course will therefore provide a basic overview of the Vacation Act and highlight important issues that employers need to consider when entering into employment contracts and when formulating internal policies. It also provides practical guidance on handling common vacation issues that may arise during a vacation year and in connection with the termination of employment.

After the course you will be able to:

  • Managing and navigating vacation issues from an employer perspective
  • Principles for calculating vacation pay
  • How to schedule and plan vacations
  • Absence due to vacation
  • The right to save holidays
  • What options are available for agreeing on deviations from the vacation rules?
  • What applies when employment is terminated and in the event of a dispute
  • Practical tips and approaches for a smooth holiday management

Target group

The course is aimed at those who are new to labor law, are CEOs, HR specialists, managers, or supervisors with personnel responsibility, as well as those who otherwise come into contact with labor law in their daily work.
