In 1925, Werner Heisenberg laid the foundations of quantum mechanics, which for 100 years has been a prerequisite for modern technologies such as semiconductors and lasers. Now, the world is on the threshold of a new technological leap. Quantum computers and quantum sensors are opening the door to radical innovations that will affect the whole of society. What does this new technology mean? What are the opportunities for industry? What is the role of academia? What should policy makers do? These questions are discussed by leading Swedish experts in technology development.
