A new law on security protection

The PTS proposes that the Security Protection Act be replaced by a new act, also called the Security Protection Act. The new act will respond to the changed requirements for security protection, including developments in the field of information technology, increased international cooperation, increased vulnerability in vital societal functions and the fact that security-sensitive activities are increasingly being conducted under private auspices.

A broader approach to the law means, among other things, that the accessibility and accuracy aspects of information and IT systems are highlighted.

The new law will allow for a nuanced security protection based on four information security classes of international model. The information security classes influence the design of security protection measures for information security, physical security and personnel security.

The law will provide clearer support than at present for international security commitments and international cooperation, including through the possibility of issuing security certificates for persons and suppliers.
