IT&Telecom companies have responded to the consultation:
"One of the organization's biggest challenges is the extensive shortage of IT skills that exists, and which looks set to become increasingly acute in the years to come. The report Acute and structural skills shortage in the IT and telecom sector, presented by IT&Telekomföretagen in March 2015, makes the assessment - which is also supported by assessments within the EU - that the IT and telecom sector will have a shortage of employees of around 60,000 people by 2020.
Higher vocational education has become very important for the IT and telecommunications industry. With the rapid development that prevails in the industry, and where a key part of the competence is hands-on work, mainly in system development, the flexibility of higher vocational education combined with large elements of practical training is a very strong success factor.
General comments
IT&Telecomföretagen fully supports the overall direction of the proposals. They are in line with the proposals set out in the above-mentioned report (cf. section 8.4 Expanding higher vocational education, pp. 18-19). The organization also supports the individual proposals, with some exceptions described in more detail in the next section.
The views of IT&Telecom companies are consistent with those of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Almega in their consultation responses. Like these organizations, IT&Telecom companies would like to both emphasize some of the proposals in particular and raise objections to others, which are described in more detail below."
