IT&Telecom companies have been invited to comment on the European Commission's proposal for the creation of a single digital gateway - the "Single Digital Gateway".

On May 2, 2017, the Commission presented a package of measures to strengthen the enforcement and functioning of the Single Market. Part of this package, which consists of three parts, is a proposal for a Regulation to create a single Digital Gateway. The Single Digital Gateway initiative was partly announced both in the Commission's Digital Single Market Strategy and also in the Commission's Single Market Strategy for Goods and Services in 2015.

The proposal for a Digital Portal has four overarching objectives; to provide EU citizens and businesses with - 1) high quality and accurate web-based information, 2) the possibility to use electronic procedures, 3) access online help functions and problem-solving services and, 4) feedback to the Commission and Member States online regarding obstacles in the Internal Market - when doing business, traveling to, buying from, working, studying or staying in another MS within the Union.
