SOU 2017:36

IT&Telecom companies have been invited to respond to the consultation

The government decided on March 31, 2016 to appoint a special investigator to propose how the European Parliament and Council Directive (EU) 2016/1148 of 6 July 2016 on measures for a high common level of security in network and information systems throughout Union shall be implemented in Swedish law.

Pär Nygårds, business policy expert at IT&Telecomföretagen, also participated as a member of the reference group for the investigation.

In the consultation responses, IT&Telecom supports the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise's consultation response and wishes to highlight the following in particular:

  • the need, as proposed by the inquiry, to create the possibility to keep incident reports confidential in order to avoid security risks for companies and customers

  • the need to exempt micro and small enterprises as proposed by the inquiry in order not to hamper innovation and growth conditions

  •  respect the extensive regulatory burden that the proposed rules in the report, together with the upcoming implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation and the ePrivacy Regulation, pose for companies and organizations subject to reporting and action requirements
