Report: Collaboration with tech industry crucial for a digitally strong Sweden
When public actors build digital infrastructure and develop digital solutions in-house, it risks hampering development and crowding out private actors. This is described in a report from TechSverige.
Instead of collaborating with an innovative and competitive tech industry, public sector organizations are increasingly building their own digital infrastructure and offering services in competition with the market. According to TechSverige's report Collaboration and healthy competition for a strong digital Sweden , this leads to poorer resource utilization, unhealthy competition and slower digital development.
The tech industry can contribute with expertise, innovation and secure, scalable solutions that strengthen both welfare and Sweden's digital competitiveness.
- The public sector should focus on its core mission. The tech industry can contribute with expertise, innovation and secure, scalable solutions that strengthen both welfare and Sweden's digital competitiveness," says Robert Liljeström, industrial policy expert at TechSverige.
The report welcomes the proposal for a new law on public sales activities, but also calls for a clearer political direction for a stronger interaction between public authorities and businesses to build the digital society of the future - together.
