Investing in cutting-edge digital technologies
The emergence of new research, innovation and businesses in cutting-edge technologies should be promoted, as well as their use. These range from artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), 5G and next-generation wireless networks, biotechnology, microelectronics, blockchain technology to quantum computing. In today's society, data is a strategic resource and asset that needs much more focus to increase value creation in its use.
12. initiate concrete development programs focused on the application of 5G. The use of 5G could revolutionize many industries. It could be smarter manufacturing and logistics or new uses of sensors and connected devices, IoT. Other examples include advanced healthcare solutions with analytics, remote monitoring or surgery supported by robots. Increased optimization and efficiency with the help of 5G can also provide major climate benefits in many sectors. The Government therefore needs to initiate and support the establishment of test beds and concrete development programs so that authorities, academia and industry can jointly test solutions for the promotion of sustainable tech solutions and the creation of new innovations in the field.
13.Increase the use of cutting-edge technologies, not least AI, to boost the competitiveness and innovation of the entire economy. The ability to translate and use new technology is crucial. The right conditions are needed for Swedish companies to be able and dare to quickly adopt new technology, AI, IoT, automation and the opportunities offered by 5G. Initiatives relating to clusters, innovation platforms and ecosystems must be designed to enable Swedish companies to test how new technology can be used in existing operations. Not least, Sweden needs to raise its ambitions and gather further strength in applied AI to strengthen Swedish competitiveness and innovation.
14. facilitating the use of data as a strategic resource. Work on free data flows and making open data easily accessible must continue and be intensified both nationally and within the EU to promote the tech industry's ability to create smart and sustainable solutions with the help of AI, among other things. Sweden must have a stated ambition to be the best in the Nordic region at making government data accessible. Data is a central part of the ongoing digitalization and is important for Sweden's competitiveness, for the development of sustainable business models and to enable efficiency improvements. Fee financing requirements for authorities that currently sell their data to finance their operations will be removed. The cost of accessing open data should be set at zero or at maximum cost price. Unclear rules for data transfers and requirements for localization inhibit digitization.
