National Coordination Council for Smart Grids

Anne-Marie Fransson, Director General, IT&Telecom companies, is part of the new Coordination Council for Smart Grids set up by the Minister for IT and Energy, Anna-Karin Hatt.

The Council's task is to develop a proposal for a national action plan for how smart grids (information technology and electricity grids combined) can be developed in Sweden. The Council will also "describe how responsibilities should be divided between different actors, what business models can look like and what new services will be required, as well as what needs there are for research on smart grids". The Council includes people representing different perspectives and interests.

Anna-Karin Hatt wrote on her blog:
"At its core, the challenge we now face is about marrying my two areas of responsibility: IT and energy.

The Coordination Council will report on its work in 2014.
