Sweden is falling behind - now interoperability and future-proof standardization are needed

IT&Telekomföretagen invited representatives from some of our Nordic neighbors to a webinar to get an insight into their work in digitalization and welfare technology.

- "Sweden needs a modern national digital infrastructure and interoperability in our systems. We have a lot to be inspired by and learn from our neighboring countries," said Lars Lundberg, industrial policy expert at IT&Telecom companies, who moderated the webinar.

Among the participants was Bengt Andersson, project manager in welfare technology at the Nordic Welfare Center, who noted that Sweden is lagging behind in this area.

- Sweden lags behind the other Nordic countries when it comes to interoperability in health and social care, and has not worked strategically enough.

He also emphasized the importance of integrating data from health and society and starting from the individual's perspective and not the other way around, where Finland's example 'Kanta' was highlighted as an interesting example to follow.

The webinar was also attended by representatives from IT&Telecom member companies who stated that the market is ready.

- "We need to work more on interoperability and future-proof standardization in welfare technology. We need to learn from each other, make solutions available to more people, scale up faster and lay the foundation for faster implementation of welfare technology," said Ulrika Giers, Director, Head of Commercial Operations RMS at Roche Diagnostics Scandinavia AB.
