digital interpreter

Leyla Sarac, Business Developer, DigitalTolk

Why have you taken this initiative?
During the coronavirus pandemic, the healthcare and public sectors are facing many challenges - one of them is communicating with patients who do not speak Swedish. These patients are a vulnerable group and there is a high risk that thousands of healthcare appointments requiring proper foreign language interpretation will be canceled. There are other digital healthcare apps, but none that can meet those who do not speak Swedish. That is why we have developed the service.

What do you want to achieve?
To reduce the spread of infection while ensuring that productivity and equity of care are maintained. It is important that the transition to digital third-party meetings happens quickly. This means that we can continue to conduct our meetings, but through video, without any risks. This will benefit society as a whole.

Who are you targeting with your initiative?
The service has been developed in collaboration with Region Halland and Region Blekinge, and we are targeting all regions and healthcare providers in Sweden. At the same time, it is recognized that the service can have a major impact on other important societal functions, such as social services and the judicial system.

What do you offer?
We offer a third-party solution for digital video meetings, which means that all participants can sit in their seats and conduct the interpretation meetings as video meetings. The service is designed to be easy to use for everyone involved, with no need to download new software or have prior technical knowledge. All you need to do is click on a unique link. The solution is supported by browsers such as Chrome and Firefox and can be used via mobile app on desktop, tablet and smartphones. We have customers who are already up and running.
