#vitecherupp - AI and digitalization great support during the corona crisis

About three weeks ago, Caroline Andersson, CEO of Governo and her colleague Göran Lindsjö started the AI call. The goal of the call was to work with the five largest AI companies to see how AIand digitization can support the Swedish public sector during the current crisis. Since then, the call has grown to include around 100 companies and researchers who are contributing in various ways to help in both the short and long term.

Governos role has been to coordinate the initiative in the form of contact creation between companies, researchers and need owners - and also tries to facilitate the various projects in the form of, for example, knowledge of how the public sector works, funding and communication.

-"It is amazing to see the power that is coming together and the difference that the different actors can make forall the sectors of society that are now under severe pressure, not least in health, education and care," says Caroline Andersson.

There are already good examples of initiatives that have either already been launched or are in the process of being launched.

Several initiatives are obviously about healthcare. For example, the need for ventilators is great. That is why Microsoft, Combitech and HP are currently working on how to use 3D printing to design spare parts for ventilators. The aim is that the spare part will mean that the ventilator can then be shared by four people with minor problems.

At the same time, it is important to reduce the spread, especially among at-risk groups. Several initiatives are underway. For example, Freelway has used its existing digital platform to develop a service that coordinates and ensures that at-risk groups can stay at home but continue to receive deliveries of supplies and other items safely and securely delivered to their door.

The crisis also means that already vulnerable groups are finding it difficult. One example is children and young people who, in contact with BRIS, among others, seek dialogue about both Corona and other problems that are getting worse in the crisis. Work is now underway to develop a chatbot that increases accessibility.

-There are several projects that are already helping in different ways that have been developed, quality assured and launched in a very short period of time, and which could be decisive for how we cope with the crisis. Other initiatives may remain good ideas, and at worst we have learned something along the way. It's great to see how all the good forces are now working together to solve challenges - a positive side effect of the crisis is all the innovation that is now taking place," says Caroline Andersson.
