Telecoms ministers urged to invest in cybersecurity and facilitate communication for Ukraine

Today and tomorrow, EU telecoms ministers are meeting in Paris to discuss information and cyber security. Ministers are also expected to issue a joint statement on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the spread of disinformation.

Ahead of this meeting, Digital Europe and TechSverige, as one of 35 European industry associations, have written an open letter on the importance of the EU investing in information and cyber security. The letter also contains a clear call for ministers to support Ukraine and help ensure that people in Ukraine - and on the move - are able to stay in touch with families and loved ones. In this regard, Swedish mobile operators, as well as mobile operators in several other Member States, have already decided to remove charges for calls, SMS and MMS to and from Ukraine. Ministers are invited to consider how they can further facilitate communication opportunities.
