"SMS scams take a lot of time"
- Absolutely! My colleagues, the Board and the funders have really welcomed me in a good way. I have had the opportunity to familiarize myself with the issues at hand and understand the big picture," says Stephan Guiance.
What have been the most important issues for you?
- Understanding the business and listening to as many voices and perspectives as possible. We currently work with issues in telephony, broadband, television, paid telecom services, fiber connections and interference on terrestrial television caused by mobile telephony. This means that we span many technology areas and different types of infrastructure. This means that the issues can sometimes be complex.
What types of cases are currently taking up the most time for the Telecom Advisors?
- In addition to our traditional advisory activities, work on spoofing (identity theft) and SMS fraud is currently taking up a lot of time. This is a major problem for both consumers and businesses, and we are working hard with telecom operators and authorities to find solutions.
What are your hopes for 2023 for the Telecoms Advisors?
- We receive around 6,500 calls and handle around 12,500 cases per year. My hope is that we will work with the industry to reduce these figures. In 2023, we will also start looking at the possibility of reaching target groups that we do not reach today and enabling consumers to reach us at different times than today.
