DEBATE: Health and social care need a digital infrastructure
The government should initiate negotiations on the digital infrastructure of health and social care in Sweden, according to speakers from Vårdföretagarna, Tech Sverige, Swedish Medtech and Lif.
Everyone expects vital information about their health, medicines and previous treatments to be available when they seek care or need it. But this is not always the case - although it should be a given in a modern society. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for people to be injured, wrongly treated or receive care too late because the necessary information is not available to health professionals. It is high time to address this.
According to the Agency for Digital Government, digital development in the public sector in Sweden is both slower and more uneven than in most comparable countries. However, Swedish companies are at the top of the European league when it comes to the use of digital technology and innovation. It is therefore wise to allow the business community to contribute knowledge and concrete solutions that accelerate the digital development of health and social care.
