DEBATE: Larmar, Shortages in the Swedish tech sector
Sweden needs 18,000 new tech workers a year, according to the industry organization Techsverige. At the same time, a worrying pattern is emerging among tech giants that are shedding staff.
The country's skills are at risk of falling short as the need for Swedish tech workers continues to increase. This is according to the latest report from the industry and employer organization Techsverige.
The report estimates that 18,000 tech specialists will be needed annually until 2028, and Ana Andric believes that the need may remain the same for some time after that. A future need for a broader group of professionals has also been identified. It is referred to as 'digital excellence'.
Techsverige calls on the government to set a volume target for a total of 320,000 professionals, in the professional groups of tech and "digital excellence", by 2030.
