Hello CEO: Anna-Karin Edstedt Bonamy, Doctrin

It's been five years since Doctrin, a market-leading communication platform for healthcare, got a new CEO. Anna-Karin Edstedt Bonamy can look back on five intense and instructive years.

- As a communication platform for healthcare, going through first a pandemic and then the introduction of AI to the market has meant major changes that have affected us to the highest degree. We have grown and developed, both as a product and in our ability as an organization to deliver value to healthcare. For me personally, it has been stimulating to switch from a clinical perspective, with my background as a doctor, to the role of business leader; to be a bridge between technology and healthcare. I am most proud of the team we have built and that, despite challenges, we have stuck to our vision," says Anna-Karin Edstedt Bonamy.

What do you think is important for leadership in your industry?

- Our industry requires leadership that combines speed and innovation, while maintaining respect for the complexity and demands of healthcare. We need to understand the daily lives of those working in healthcare, while driving innovation and change. Transparency, persistence and a culture of learning from mistakes are also crucial, especially as we operate in an area where trust and patient safety are paramount.

What challenges do you see for Doctrin's continued development?

- One clear challenge is that healthcare is relatively slow to adopt changing ways of working, which is often necessary to reach the full potential of digitization. So far, we have only digitized the most change-prone healthcare providers, so there is still a lot to do. AI is both a challenge and an opportunity - it is important that we harness its potential, without compromising patient and information security.

Is there anything in TechSverige'shealthtech report from this spring that you would like to highlight or comment on?

- In addition to the excellent case around local digital triage with Doctrin and Capio, I think it is good that the report so clearly shows both the potential of digital solutions and the obstacles that still exist, such as procurement and the lack of interoperability. Perhaps most importantly, it recognizes that we now need to move from analysis to action - for healthcare, policy and tech to work together more concretely to unlock the capacity we all know exists. It's much easier than you think if you don't complicate it. Those of us who are currently integrated with many of the most important systems in healthcare know that it is not the technology that is missing to achieve interoperability at scale, but finding the right financial, political and organizational incentives for healthcare actors to prioritize integration.

What do you see as the benefits of Doctrin's membership of TechSverige?

- We get access to your large network, both in tech in general, but also more specifically in health tech, and the opportunity to be involved in influencing important issues for the entire sector. It provides legitimacy and creates collaborations that strengthen us, but also the entire industry.

Doctrin is Sweden's leading communication platform for healthcare. The platform was developed together with the Nordic region's largest healthcare providers and handles over two million patient cases annually. The result is more efficient flows and communication, less stressed healthcare staff and, above all, more satisfied patients.
