Debate: "Public authorities should not become IT service providers"
In a response in Dagens Samhälle, TechSverige's business policy experts Frida Faxborn and Peter Kjäll write that Sweden needs initiatives where the public sector and tech companies together drive an increased use of smart solutions.
The authors of the article refer to the Swedish National Audit Office's report "Statliga strategiska digitaliseringsprojekt - stora gemensamma utmaningar" (RIR 2025:8). When the Swedish National Audit Office examined government IT projects during the period 2013 to 2024, major shortcomings were found. TechSverige welcomes the government's clarity and ambition to make public procurement more inviting and attractive to suppliers in its updated "Roadmap for Public Procurement 2025-2030", as well as the fact that the Swedish Public Procurement Agency is being strengthened with a forum for coordinating procurement support for IT, if this is done in close collaboration with the business community.
