Welcome Olivia Onwuta – TechSverige’s new labor law expert
TechSverige continues to grow and is pleased to welcome Olivia Onwuta to the team. With experience in both law firms and the business sector, and a strong interest in how law, business, and people interact, she will strengthen our efforts to support tech employers in labor law matters. Here, she shares more about her background, what drives her, and what she’s looking forward to in her new role.
Hi Olivia! Who are you?
Hi! I’m a true Stockholm girl who grew up, went to school, and worked here. I’m a lawyer and, since graduating, have primarily worked with labor law issues—most recently at H&M, where I provided broad support and advice for the Swedish retail market. Before that, I worked with labor law at the corporate law firms Vinge and Bird & Bird, and served as a lay judge at Södertörn District Court.
How did you become interested in labor law?
My interest in labor law was sparked during my time as a summer intern at a commercial law firm. I was drawn to it because it’s a field that involves not only law, but also human relationships and commercial considerations. When I continued working in the field after graduation, it became clear just how dynamic the field is, which makes the work both challenging and rewarding.
What attracted you to TechSverige, and what are you looking forward to in your new role?
I was drawn toTechSverige because it’s a place where law, business, and technological development converge. The tech industry is both socially vital and constantly evolving, which makes labor law issues both timely and interesting. TechSverige is also at an exciting stage as an organization, and I’m really excited to be part of that journey. I’m truly looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues and, of course, our member companies, and supporting them in their labor law challenges!
What do you like to do most when you’re not working?
A typical answer, perhaps—I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking and eating good food, and traveling. Besides that, like so many others, I try to stay active every now and then, and I’ve really gotten into the Reformer Pilates trend lately. And of course, I watch a lot of TV shows to keep things balanced!
