TechSverige Welcomes Selma Holmer Krikström 

This fall, we are pleased to welcome Selma Holmer Krikström as an intern at TechSverige. Here, she talks about her background, her interest in technological development, and her expectations for her time with us. 

Tell us about yourself—what is your background, and what have you studied? 

– My name is Selma, I’m 23 years old, and I grew up in Stockholm. This past spring, I completed my bachelor’s degree in economics at Lund University, with a focus on international economics and development economics. Now I have the opportunity to do an internship here at TechSverige for just over half a year. 

What made you want to do an internship at TechSverige, and what are you most looking forward to? 

– The issue of technological development is taking shape in real time, is gaining increasing prominence on the global agenda, and is influencing everything from economic growth to security policy. TechSverige is at the heart of this effort to create the right conditions for Sweden and Swedish tech companies. I am particularly interested in political advocacy and look forward to following and contributing to this work up close. 

Is there any question or area within tech that you find particularly interesting? 

– Generative AI is a popular and exciting topic, especially how language models can be used when studying—something I’ve been doing for a long time now. Beyond that, I enjoy keeping up with agtech and foodtech and how they might impact global health and the climate. 

What do you hope to learn or develop during your time with us? 

– In addition to the head start in my career that the internship itself provides, I hope to learn more about the intersection of industries in Sweden—where their interests align and where they diverge. 

It feels historic to witness the start of a new term of office with a policy issue like digitalization, which is evolving at an unusually rapid pace. I hope to learn a great deal about Swedish economic policy and how it takes shape at all these intersections. 

Tell us something fun or unexpected about yourself that we might not find on your resume. 

– I really enjoy kickboxing as a form of exercise. Even more important to me, though, are my regular, long walks in the woods.
