Tech Election – Where the Parties Stand on Tech Issues
Technology is a driving force behind Sweden’s competitiveness and prosperity. Through increased productivity, innovation, and new solutions, technology contributes to jobs, growth, and a stronger society. For Sweden to succeed as a technology nation, it requires not only investments in digitalization and new technology, but also the right conditions in areas such as skills, research, entrepreneurship, energy, the labor market, and the public sector.
At the same time, digitalization, AI, and new technologies have taken on increasing importance in politics and are a recurring theme in the political parties’ proposals on everything from the labor market and welfare to entrepreneurship, research, and security.
Techvalet shows how the parties in the Riksdag intend to strengthen Sweden’s position as a tech nation in a selection of these areas. Click on an area below to read why the issue is important for Sweden as a tech nation and compare the parties’ policies and concrete reform proposals. How Techvalet Was Developed
Techvalet is based on the public policies and positions of the parties in the Riksdag and focuses on the proposals that each party puts forward for the future. The assessment examines whether the parties present new reforms or proposals to change or develop current policies, not merely measures that have already been decided upon or are being implemented. “Yes” means that the party presents clear and concrete reform proposals in this area. “Limited” means that the party has policies in this area, but that the proposals are few, general in nature, or only partially address the issue. This assessment does not involve any evaluation of the proposals’ content, effects, or funding—a “Yes” therefore does not mean that TechSverige endorses the proposal.
Expertise from Around the World
Why is this issue important?
Competition for talent and cutting-edge expertise is global. Sweden’s ability to attract, recruit, and retain international talent is crucial to tech companies’ ability to grow and compete globally. Digital Security
Why is this issue important?
More and more aspects of everyday life are taking place digitally, from banking and e-commerce to education, healthcare, and interactions with government agencies. At the same time, digital fraud and other online crimes are on the rise.
