Three European trade associations slam the chemicals tax law
On Friday 31/3 (2017), the trade associations DIGITALEUROPE, IPC and ITI sent a joint letter to the Swedish Ministers of Finance and Environment requesting to postpone the date for the first payment of the new chemical tax. In particular, the organizations point to the annex to the tax, which lists 140 chemical substances that will form the basis for calculating whether you are entitled to a 50% or 90% tax deduction.
Chemical manufacturers' toxicologists and materials experts have now reviewed the list in detail and found it to be of very low quality, with over 60 errors identified. This means that the list cannot be used by the Swedish Tax Agency to verify whether the correct tax has been paid, which risks leading to lengthy legal proceedings.
