Madeleine Bergrahm and Helena Nordin lead the Sustainability Council

Madeleine Bergrahm, Nordic Sustainability Manager & SPP Program at HP and Helena Nordin, Sustainability Manager at Advania have for some time held the position of chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the IT & Telecom Companies' Sustainability Council, which engages a large number of member companies. Here they tell us how they see their assignments, what they do in their daily work and why they and the companies they represent invest in sustainability.

Madeleine, whatdoes the role of Chair of the Sustainability Council mean to you?

Madeleine Bergrahm, Nordic Sustainability Manager & SPP Program HP and Chair of the Sustainability Council.

- The Sustainability Council can help bring the right issues to the debate among different stakeholders. I'm thinking of the issues that are relevant across the life cycle of an IT product or service, and where we as an industry can have an impact. Social issues throughout the value chain and cleaner material flows are two current issues. Being chair is exciting, the Council is made up of many committed members. I hope to be able to contribute with knowledge from other industries and international experience.

What do you do on a daily basis and why is HP interested in Sustainability Council issues?

- "What's exciting about sustainability issues is that they affect the entire business, I learn something new almost every day even though I've been working with sustainability for a long time. The Nordic market is at the forefront of many sustainability issues, so most of what I am involved in has an external focus. I am also responsible for coordinating procurement issues within my team in the EU.

- The Sustainability Council can bring the industry together and thus gain greater acceptance from the public sector, for example. In the Council, we can contribute different perspectives depending on where in the value chain our respective companies operate.

Helena, what does the position of Vice Chair of the Sustainability Council mean to you?

Helena Nordin, Sustainability Manager Advania and Vice Chair of the Sustainability Council.

- I support and act as a sounding board for our President to make the Council's work as effective and efficient as possible. There are a lot of ideas and ambitions within the Council, but at the same time limited time and resources, so we constantly need to prioritize what is most important to the members.

What do you do for a living, and why is Advania interested in Sustainability Council issues?

- In recent years, we have clearly seen the increased interest in sustainability issues from our customers, at the same time as there have been several new directives and laws that we are subject to. Right now, I therefore have a strong focus on Advania's sustainability reporting, which we are further developing in our internal management system.

- I have participated in the work of the Sustainability Council for over 3 years now and see how valuable it is for Advania to be able to work with others in the industry to keep up with all the trends, and at the same time communicate with our stakeholders and understand how we as an industry are affected by what is happening in the outside world.
