Industry code for responsible AI
The IT and telecoms industries are now acting together to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) is used responsibly. Together with eight companies, the IT and telecom industries have developed guidelines for trust-building AI.
- We in the industry need to take responsibility together for how AI is used. As industry representatives, we are best placed to solve the issue. Unethical or illegal use must be counteracted," says Åsa Zetterberg, Director General of IT&Telecom.
The aim is for the Code to serve as a tool and guidance for businesses, authorities and organizations. It is based on three principles:
- A humane and sustainable society
- Understanding and inclusion
- Confidence
- The purpose of an industry code for AI is basically to support employees in their daily work. It should be easy to do the right thing," says Lars Lundberg, industrial policy expert at IT&Telecomföretagen and responsible for the industry code.
- "The industry code provides answers to how a company or organization is expected to behave and act when designing, implementing and managing systems and services based on AI," says Lars Lundberg.
Sweden needs to accelerate the use of AI in both the business and public sectors. This will lead to stronger competitiveness and growth, increased sustainability and smarter welfare.
- We simply cannot afford to miss out on the major positive societal impacts that AI can offer and which can bring major improvements to people's quality of life and health," said Åsa Zetterberg.
The following companies have been involved in the development of the AI industry code together with IT&Telecom companies:
Avanade, CGI, Ericsson, EQT Partners, Microsoft, Norna, Tendium and Tieto.
