Mia Åslander, CEO, Gibon

What do you offer in concrete terms?
The new free service Dataprata.se is an initiative by Gibon and Daresay to help elderly and other computer-illiterate people stay in touch with their relatives despite social isolation. Dataprata.se makes it easier to communicate with video, audio and images. The site recognizes the user's device, provides clear step-by-step instructions to get started, and helps to launch the most common video dating apps. The site has a simple layout with extra clear buttons and text.

Why have you taken this initiative?
We want to contribute what we can when society has been hit so hard by COVID-19. Gibon knows digital solutions and Daresay knows all about digital experiences - we realized that our expertise can be useful by offering the older generation in particular a simplified opportunity to communicate with their loved ones via video calls.

What the older generation clearly expresses is that they lack clear instructions, in their mother tongue, to start using the services. We took note of this. The goal is to translate the site into more languages so that people whose mother tongue is not Swedish can also use the service. However, we need help from others here, so anyone with knowledge is welcome to contribute so that several groups of people can communicate digitally.

What do you want to achieve?
We want to make it easier for older people and others who are not computer literate to communicate online. The Dataprata service makes it easier to communicate with video, audio and images.

Who are you targeting with your initiative?
Our isolated at-risk groups, especially the older generation with low computer skills, but also other isolated groups in society who want to be close to their loved ones. However, these groups are difficult to reach digitally, so we are targeting our message to children and grandchildren, encouraging them to video chat with a loved one tonight using our service.
