#vitecherupp - The Internet Foundation works to spread knowledge about the Internet

The spread of COVID-19 has led many Swedes to work and study remotely. Many are therefore concerned that internet capacity will not be sufficient. The Swedish Internet Foundation works to spread knowledge about the internet and clarify the situation regarding internet capacity.

The spread of Covid-19 has led to concerns about whether internet capacity will be sufficient. The Swedish Internet Foundation is an independent business-driven and non-profit organization responsible for the Swedish top-level domain .se and the administration of the .nu top-level domain. Revenues from the domains fund initiatives to enable people to make the best use of the internet, including sharing knowledge about the internet. The Swedish Internet Foundation has recently been working to counter the spread of information that the internet capacity is insufficient.

-"We noticed that the media started to highlight other countries' problems with internet capacity and saw that there was a great need to work with knowledge dissemination in the area," says Jannike Tillå, Head of Promotion and Communication at The Swedish Internet Foundation.

The Swedish Internet Foundation has no responsibility for internet capacity, but many people turn to The Swedish Internet Foundation with questions about the internet. In addition to working with knowledge dissemination, The Swedish Internet Foundation offers the service Bredbandskollen. With it, you can measure the speed of your internet.

-"We have noticed that more people are using the service. But through contacts we have had with various internet operators, we know that the internet in Sweden can handle the pressure as it stands right now. However, the speed of the internet can differ between different regions and between urban and rural areas. This difference has nothing to do with Covid-19, but is something that we have already noted in our reports," says Jannike Tillå.
