Dustin tablets give seniors a chance to discover the possibilities of digitalization

A ban on visits to the country's nursing homes has left many elderly people feeling lonely and isolated from the outside world. The company Dustin, which sells IT products and services, therefore provides nursing homes with tablets containing courses and activities from the Adult Education Association.The tablets can also be used to keep in touch with loved ones.

Why have you taken this initiative?
This spring, digitalization throughout society has taken huge leaps and made many people take steps and try things they have not done before. Since the end of March, there has been a restraining order on the country's nursing homes due to the spread of the coronavirus, which has led to many in the homes being very lonely and isolated from the outside world.When Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan contacted us and asked if we wanted to participate in the initiative, it felt like a great opportunity for us to be involved in a concrete way and help give the elderly a bright spot in life and at the same time show all the opportunities IT provides.

What do you offer?
We have helped Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan to provide elderly homes with tablets containing various programs with troubadours and circle leaders from Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan. The tablets can also be used to keep in touch with loved ones.

Who are you targeting?
Ultimately, the beneficiaries of this initiative are the elderly in the homes that the Adult Education Association is now able to provide with entertainment, culture and social contacts.

What do you want to achieve?
We believe in the possibilities of technology and this is an initiative that shows how IT can help spread joy and is an example of digitization. With this initiative, we hope to be able to help Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan to continue its valued activities in the nursing homes, in a digital form, while contributing an important channel to enrich the social contacts of the elderly.

How has it been going?
We have just started distributing the tablets, the feedback we have received so far from the nursing homes is that the initiative is much appreciated.
